Kapor Capital’s Response and Plan Re: COVID-19
As the situation with COVID-19 continues to evolve, Kapor Capital has developed the following guidelines for staff regarding upcoming events, travel, and remote work. We are seeking to balance the current understanding of risks and uncertainties, guidance from the Alameda Public Health Department, and the need to keep our work moving forward.
In seeking to ensure the health and well being of our staff and community by minimizing the risk of exposure and transmission, Kapor Capital has taken the following precautions, effective immediately:
- Strongly encouraged staff to work remotely through March 20th.
- Understanding that the office provides a safe and stable environment for some of our colleagues, we’ve asked staff, if they do come into the office, to adhere strictly to CDC guidelines on preventing transmission and to seek medical assistance if they are sick or may have been exposed to someone with the virus.
- Canceled internal events through the end of March and halted space rentals at 2148 Broadway for the foreseeable future.
- Curtailed in-person staff participation in external work-related events, including conferences and work travels.
- Began strategizing on how to best support our focus communities of participants and collaborators, many of whom may be disproportionately impacted by the epidemic.
- Encouraged staff who work outside of Oakland to exercise caution and use best judgement on how to respond to local conditions.
All of our guidance and recommendations will be updated as circumstances or recommendations from public health officials changes.

Recommended public health precautions to prevent respiratory disease transmission:
- Wash hands with liquid soap and hot water and rub for at least 20 seconds;
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when coughing or sneezing;
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth;
- If you are sick, stay home;
- Avoid close contact (less than 6 feet) with people who are sick;
- Get a flu shot to protect yourself and others from the flu, which has some similar symptoms to COVID-19;
- Use disinfectant wipes to routinely clean frequently touched surfaces in the workplace, including your workstation, phone, computer keyboard, remote controls, and other work equipment;
The CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including COVID-19.
